The Song of Humility

MR. MAJESTY

(Intro)

Come, hear the tale of an ancient story.

All about a King and his passion for glory.

What was the song that they sang when he died?

His legacy was his Pride.

(Verse 1)

All rise for the king when the trumpet sounds!

All bow as he passes, every knee to the ground!

Shout when mounts his royal throne!

All praise is his to own!

Yes, the poets paint the portrait of the kingly life,

But it comes at a price for his children and his wife.

The king’s vanity’s a show, with a royal nonnie no.

But his family gets cast in his tapestry’s shadow.

(Verse 2)

Expand ye the kingdom working overtime

Ever-battles to wage, of which the poets must rhyme!

What the crown doth cost, but his family can measure.

For he sleepeth every night in the tower with his treasure!

(Breakout 1)

Busy planning newfound conquests

Busy making royal deals

Busy weighing the regal war chest!

(Busy skipping all of the family meals!)

Mr. Majesty we hate to inform you

As you spread your kingdom far and wide

That this Lust for power will transform you

With disdain for both your children and bride.

(Verse 3)

He’s got no time to do the daddy thing, he’s more than obsessed

With some dragon-slaying, legend-making ego-quest

Hyper-Vanity consuming his every hour

“Fill the trophy case with souvenirs of sovereign Power!”

You see, a king is too important for domestic life

And can’t be bothered with annoyances like kids and a wife.

Fatherhood’s for show; double-true for marriage

While the whisper’s ’round the village…of a mistress in his carriage.

(Verse 4)

But, here the tale turns bitter for his kin would not abide

His indifference to family vs kingly pride.

So they left him all alone with his crown and his throne

In his castle made of stone and he was overthrown.

(echoing)

They left him all alone with his crown and his throne

In his castle made of stone and he was overthrown.

They left him all alone with his crown and his throne

In his castle made of stone and he was overthrown.

(repeat…fade)

(Intro reprise, Marching, intimidating)

Come, hear the tale of an ancient story.

All about a King and his passion for glory.

What was the song that they sang when he died?

His legacy was his Pride!
